I now have my own kiln so if there is a mistake
in how something is fired it's nobody's fault but my own. These
are the first pieces from my first firing of my new kiln.
First View They look pretty good from
this distance.
Not bad from here either a little darker
A few bubbles and yeah there's a shift of the
clear top layer on the bottom right piece. Oh yeah just a reminder to
folks make sure you have at least 1/2 inch between pieces or they may
fuse together look at the top of the bottom right piece. oops!
It's hard to see the dicro-slide on the three
on top and the, the one in the center and the one with dichoric glass
top. The other three on the right show the dicro-slide
butterflies ok. See what I mean about keeping them apart?
You can't see it here but the white that
was not covered with a clear top came out sort of frosted.
Everything else came out with a nice gloss. There are three
pieces here with a copper butterfly sandwiched between two
layers. Some bubbles are visible but where my first work with
copper inclusion they came out a solid color these have several
different colors in them. As you can see those pieces I tried to
make into round cabs. came out sort of octagon shaped with 8
points. OH can you see the butterfiles on the blue and white
pieces in the cetner top or the white piece top right? They are
there but as I said I was disappointed in the dicro-slide.
